Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 9:28AM For the 5th year, the ABA Journal has released its Blawg 100 list - a rundown of 100 of the best legal blogs (sorry, the word "blog" is dumb enough without the added legalese perversion to "blawg") available. I look forward to the list every year both to see who I read on the list as well as a way to get introduced to some great legal blogs I hadn't seen before.
You should definitely peruse the list yourself and see if anything tickles your fancy. But let me tell you about a few of my favorites.
First things first, a couple of North Carolina Bar Association members write blogs that made the list:
Abnormal Use - is a products liability law blog produced by the attorneys of Gallivan, White & Boyd and edited by the inimitable Jim Dedman.
Virtual Law Practice - is written by Wilmington attorney Steph Kimbro, who has become the leading voice on virtual law practice nationwide.
In my little corner of the world (technology and law practice management), a few of my favorites made the list:
Law21 - by Jordan Furlong charts the future of law practice for firms large and small.
iPhone, J.D. - by New Orleans attorney Jeff Richardson is the place to go for iPhone and iPad-toting lawyers.
Legal Practice Pro - by bankruptcy attorney Jay Fleischman is a great source of practical information for the small firm lawyer.
My Shingle - Washington, D.C. attorney Carolyn Elefant's blog continues to be ground zero on the web for information and ideas about starting and running a solo practice.
Ride the Lightning - by wife-husband dynamic duo Sharon Nelson and John Simek covers electronic evidence and security in an straightforward, readable way.
Robert Ambrogi's LawSites - covers new websites of interest to lawyers. If there is one legal blog where I make it a point to read every post, this is it. (Don't hold his Tyler Perry-esque title against him.)
3 Geeks and a Law Blog - co-written by Toby Brown, Lisa Salazar and Greg Lambert covers legal geekery with a librarian's eye.
There is also a growing number of multi-author juggernauts deservedly on the list.
Slaw - among the many multi-author blogs, this collaboratively-written Canadian blog founded by Simon Fodden and edited by Steve Matthews stands tall. It's what I would like the NC Law Blog to be when it grows up.
These are just a handful of the great blogs that have been nominated. Head over, vote for your favorites and pick out some new ones to try.
